Mavericks waive Jarrid Famous, sign Tu Holloway
The Dallas Mavericks' roster just got a little less Famous.
The Mavericks announced Thursday that they have waived big man Jarrid Famous, who signed a reported three-year, non-guaranteed deal with the team in July.
Starved for frontcourt depth, the Mavs took a cavalcade of scrap-heap forwards and centers into training camp, but the 6-foot-11 Famous couldn't stick. He suited up for five preseason games, averaging two points and 1.8 rebounds in just under 10 minutes a night.
Famous has bounced around the D-League and the international circuit since going undrafted out of South Florida in 2011. Between D-League stints, he's logged time in China, the Dominican Republic, Slovakia, and the Philippines. He also played for the Washington Wizards in this year's summer league.
In a related move, Dallas signed free agent Tu Holloway, a 6-foot guard who went undrafted out of Xavier in 2012 and most recently played in Belgium. The Mavs signed him to a camp deal three years ago, but waived him before the start of the regular season.
