Report: All 6 Buss siblings to aid GM Kupchak in Lakers' coaching search

Kobe Bryant may not be directly consulted on the Los Angeles Lakers' search for a new head coach, but that may simply be a matter of a lack of chairs.

Bryant appears to be the only key Laker not being included in the search, and it could be that there just isn't space in Staples Center meeting rooms to fit another body. Not with all six Buss siblings involved in the process, plus general manager Mitch Kupchak, anyway.

Yes, Jeanie Buss, the Lakers president, will be involved with the search, as will vice president of player personnel Jim Buss and the other four Buss siblings, according to a report from Los Angeles Daily News.

From the report:

The Lakers will have added input from all of the six Buss siblings, including president Jeanie Buss, according to a person familiar with the team’s thought process.
...
“Does that mean they will decide who the coach is going to be? No,” said a person familiar with the Lakers’ coaching search process. “It’s not like there’s going to be seven people making that decision.”

The Los Angeles Times originally reported the Buss family involvement and reiterated that they feel no rush to have a coach in place any time soon:

"This process is going to involve the Buss family," said the person with knowledge of the arrangement.

The six siblings comprise the Lakers' ownership team, as per terms of Jerry Buss' trust.

The team has been without a coach for four weeks and isn't committed to getting one in place before the June 26 draft.

The Lakers have interviewed or will interview a number of high-profile candidates with many others rumored. You can catch up on their search in the storyline below.
