Jokic: I hope 'nobody knows me' after retiring from NBA
Nikola Jokic wants to fade into obscurity once his NBA career ends.
The Denver Nuggets big man opened up about the pressure of being famous on teammate Michael Porter Jr.'s "Curious Mike" podcast, admitting he doesn't enjoy attracting a lot of attention.
"When I finish my career, I really wish nobody knows me," Jokic said. "And I really wish my kid - or kids in the future, who knows - really remember me as a dad, not as a basketball player. I'm gonna say that's gonna be my goal in life. And to not have a phone - I think that's another big goal of mine. Just to live in the moment.
"Like you said, being a normal person. Live in the moment, go drink with your buddy or go have lunch or go play with the kids or go drive horses and nobody's going to make a big deal of that."
Jokic has become one of the NBA's biggest stars since entering the league in 2015. The 28-year-old already has two MVP awards to his name along with an NBA Finals MVP, five All-Star selections, and three All-NBA first-team nods.
Jokic is under contract with the Nuggets through the 2026-27 campaign and holds a player option for the following season.
