Miami Heat forward Caleb Martin is taking full responsibility for initiating the altercation with Toronto Raptors rookie Christian Koloko that earned Martin a one-game suspension.

Martin stood over Koloko before tackling him into the stands after he and the Raptors big man made contact while fighting for a rebound Saturday in Miami's 112-109 win.

Martin said Monday he expected the suspension and doesn't disagree with it.

"I didn't even realize I approached him like that. That's 1,000% on me," he said, according to the Miami Herald's Anthony Chiang. "I think my momentum took me toward him. Obviously, being upset, I didn't realize the placement where I was on the floor.

"But I got to take full accountability of the way I act and being the initiator and aggressor on that."

Martin said he expressed remorse toward Koloko after the game.

"I reached out to him last night. ... Just letting him know I apologize and that's not the way I carry myself and I don't condone that type of stuff," the 27-year-old said. "Obviously, he was cool about it. We talked about it and he understands."

Koloko, 22, received a $15,000 fine for his role in the incident, while Heat rookie Nikola Jovic was suspended one game after coming off the bench to take part in the altercation.

Martin and Jovic will serve their suspensions when Miami faces the Raptors in a Monday night rematch.
