The New Orleans Pelicans have received permission to interview Brooklyn Nets assistant Jacque Vaughn and the Milwaukee Bucks' Charles Lee, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Vaughn has spent the past five years with the Nets organization, taking over as head coach on an interim basis during the 2019-20 campaign after Kenny Atkinson stepped down midseason.

The 46-year-old went 58-158 over parts of three seasons as the Orlando Magic's bench boss. Vaughn was also an assistant under Gregg Popovich from 2010-12.

Lee began his coaching career in 2012 as an assistant for his alma mater Bucknell. He made the leap to the NBA after a pair of seasons and has been on Mike Budenholzer's staff for the past seven years.

The 36-year-old has also been linked with the Boston Celtics' head coaching vacancy.

Both candidates were reportedly in the running for the Pelicans' gig a year ago before New Orleans selected Stan Van Gundy, who mutually parted ways with the club last week after one campaign on the job.
