Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet wasn't in the lineup for Monday's visit from the Washington Wizards due to a hip flexor injury, head coach Nick Nurse told The Athletic's Eric Koreen.

VanVleet was forced to exit early in the second half of Saturday's 130-77 franchise-record blowout of the Golden State Warriors.

He joins fellow Raptors star Kyle Lowry on the sideline. The six-time All-Star is shelved for around a week because of a toe infection.

In 44 outings this season, VanVleet is posting career-best averages in points (19.8), rebounds (4.2), and assists (6.1) for the 19-30 Raptors.

DeAndre' Bembry started in VanVleet's place for the meeting between two struggling Eastern Conference teams at the Amalie Arena. Toronto hosts the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday at its temporary home in Tampa Bay.
