Kerr warns Warriors fans: Blowout loss won't be 'one-off'
Steve Kerr didn't sugarcoat things after the Golden State Warriors opened their season Thursday with a 19-point loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
"This is not a one-off," Kerr said, according to ESPN's Marc J. Spears. "This is the reality. There are going to be nights like this, this year."
The Warriors were playing their first official game at their new San Francisco home, Chase Center, and struggled out of the gate as Los Angeles started the contest on a 14-0 run. The home team never took the lead in the contest.
"The last five years, we've been living in a world that's not supposed to exist," Kerr said, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. "Nine guys 23 or younger. We're starting over, in many respects."
Golden State enters the campaign coming off its fifth straight NBA Finals appearance, but it does so without multiple familiar faces. Star swingman Klay Thompson could miss the entire season after tearing his ACL in June.
Meanwhile, Kevin Durant, who frequently carried the scoring load on off-days for Stephen Curry and Thompson, departed for the Brooklyn Nets in free agency.
