Butler out for Heat's season opener due to personal reasons
Jimmy Butler will not play in the Miami Heat's season-opening game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday due to personal reasons, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said "everything's fine" regarding Butler, according to Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press. But Spoelstra would not confirm if Butler would join the Heat for their second game of the season Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks, according to Winderman.
After becoming a free agent this past summer, Butler joined Miami from the Philadelphia 76ers as part of a four-team sign-and-trade agreement.
Miami will also be without guard Dion Waiters for Wednesday's matchup. The 27-year-old was suspended by the Heat for one game for conduct detrimental to the team.
