With the No. 45 pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons selected Nebraska power forward Isaiah Roby, who will reportedly be traded to the Dallas Mavericks, according to The New York Times' Marc Stein.

Roby was one of the bright spots on a Cornhuskers squad that finished second from the bottom in the Big Ten standings. The 21-year-old was Nebraska's leading rebounder (6.9) and shot-blocker (1.9) this past season.

Roby has been one of the premier rim-protectors in the conference, averaging the third-highest swats per contest in Big Ten play in each of the last two seasons. If Roby's outside shooting continues to improve, he has the potential to be an effective 3-and-D player at the next level.

What the analysts are saying

  • "Roby is a good athlete with size and length for the four position. However, the issue right now is strength. The team that drafts him will need a strong developmental background and the ability to add physicality to his frame. If they can do that, though, there’s some real potential due to his ability to shoot it and grab and go on the break." - The Athletic's Sam Vecenie
  • "Passive player who doesn’t assert himself on offense. He also avoids physicality, too; on the roll, he’ll often dribble into a jump hook or floater instead of challenging defenders at the rim." - The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor
