The Parkland, Fla. school was the site of a mass shooting in February 2018 that left 17 people dead and 17 others injured. One of the victims, 17-year-old Joaquin Oliver, was buried in Wade's jersey.
In his speech Sunday, Wade spoke about his first visit to the school shortly after the shooting and not knowing what he was going to say to the students.
"I grew up in inner city Chicago and I've experienced a lot of awful things," he said. "But I've never experienced anything to the magnitude that you guys have just experienced."
