The Los Angeles Clippers have reportedly granted Minnesota Timberwolves permission to meet with general manager Michael Winger as part of their search for a new president of basketball operations, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Winger has been serving as Clippers general manager since August 2017. He was previously the assistant GM of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Winger also has prior experience in the Cleveland Cavaliers' front office.

Wojnarowski adds that Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor has targeted a handful of potential candidates for the opening. According to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, Minnesota will also interview Rockets vice president Gersson Rosas.

Minnesota announced last week that it had begun its search for a new president. The role has been vacant since the organization dismissed Tom Thibodeau in January.

The organization is expected to retain general manager Scott Layden and interim head coach Ryan Saunders following their search.
