Villanova hero DiVincenzo to declare for draft, but won't hire agent
Villanova announced Thursday that guard Donte DiVincenzo will declare for the 2018 NBA Draft, but won't hire an agent.
That means he'll still be eligible to return to the college ranks if he withdraws from the draft pool by June 11.
After a modest Big East tournament, DiVincenzo started heating up in March, but it wasn't until the Wildcats' national championship win over Michigan that he really captured the attention of pundits and casual fans alike. The 6-foot-5 sharpshooter exploded with 31 points on 10-of-15 shooting (5-of-7 from 3-point territory), the most points ever scored by a reserve in a Final Four game.
DiVincenzo averaged 13.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game in 2017-18.
He joins fellow Villanova standouts Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson, as well as freshman forward Omari Spellman, in declaring for the draft. Bridges, Brunson, and DiVincenzo also contributed to the Wildcats' title-winning 2015-16 season as freshmen, though the latter played just 74 minutes before breaking his foot.
