Report: Pacers discussing buyout of Monta Ellis
Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports
The Indiana Pacers and guard Monta Ellis are reportedly discussing a potential buyout that could be completed later in July, league sources told Nate Taylor of the Indianapolis Star.
Ellis has completed two seasons of the four-year, $43-million deal he signed with Indiana in 2015. In 2016-17, Ellis averaged just 8.5 points with a career-low 16.8 usage rate.
Though the Pacers are still thin in the backcourt even after their reported agreement with Darren Collison and acquisition of Victor Oladipo, it seems the organization is prioritizing a fresh start over win totals.
