While getting the most bang for his buck on a new deal, as well as continuing to be in the mix to compete for championships, were both determining factors in Andre Iguodala's decision to stay put, perhaps the No. 1 reason why he elected to re-sign with the Golden State Warriors was his 10-year-old son.

"The guy sitting across from me, my son, he's playing Madden," Iguodala told NBA TV on Tuesday night. "I told him I had some options, other teams I was looking at. I said we might be leaving and he started crying."

His son, also named Andre, was heard in the background during the interview, making sure to let his father know he was close to crying, but didn't actually shed any tears.

In the days leading up to his decision, the 2015 Finals MVP was linked to a number of different teams, including the San Antonio Spurs and Sacramento Kings, while both the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers were said to have secured meetings with him.

It was difficult to imagine Iguodala departing the Bay Area after just winning a second title in three years, leading many to believe the 33-year-old was using the meetings as leverage so the Warriors would boost their offer. As it turns out, that was never his intention, as he was seriously considering taking his talents elsewhere under the right circumstances.

"Sometimes guys get in trouble when you try to use leverage with another team and they don't think they're ever going to go there but they try to use them as leverage," Iguodala said, according to The Mercury News' Anthony Slater. "I never take that approach. Whenever I take a meeting or have another opportunity with another organization, I take it very seriously."

Iguodala's new fully guaranteed contract will reportedly pay him $48 million over three years with no options.
