Curry relishes having a close game for the first time in 'awhile'

The Golden State Warriors have cruised through the 2017 playoffs. Sitting at 15-0 and having played in only three games decided by single digits, the Warriors and close games haven't been associated much.

Wednesday night's Game 3 in Cleveland - despite resulting in a 118-113 Golden State victory - was at least a highly competitive contest. A situation that point guard Stephen Curry both acknowledged and appreciated.

"That was a great feeling to kind of overcome their run, the crowd's energy, and just find a way to win. Having a close game down the stretch, honestly, it's been awhile," said Curry in his postgame press conference.

To put a timeline on Curry's classification of "awhile," Golden State's last single-digit win was back on May 14 in Game 1 of its series against the San Antonio Spurs. That contest finished 113-111 for the Warriors and saw Spurs small forward Kawhi Leonard be removed from the game due to injury.

In the five contests between Game 1 of that series and Game 3 of the NBA Finals, Curry's Warriors had outscored opponents by an average of 20.6 points. The Warriors' dominance thus far was aptly summed up by Curry opting to seemingly sleep through a portion of Sunday's Game 2
