Report: Clippers likely to lose Crawford after low-ball offer
The Los Angeles Clippers are still mathematically alive in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, but in the meantime, they're likely to lose one of their own.
While holding out hope for Durant, and re-signing Austin Rivers for three years and $35 million, the Clippers submitted an offer to retain free-agent shooting guard Jamal Crawford on Saturday, sources told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.
Shelburne reports that Crawford is "still weighing options," but sources told USA Today's Sam Amick that the Clippers low-balled Crawford with an offer likelier to usher him out the door than keep him in the fold.
The 36-year-old won his third career Sixth Man of the Year award this past season after averaging 14.2 points and 2.3 assists in 26.9 minutes off the Clippers' bench. He's reportedly had free-agent meetings with the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, and Orlando Magic.
