Kerr laments 'fat, drunk, and stupid' Warriors in loss to Wolves

Had the Golden State Warriors not lost to the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves last Tuesday, they would have breathing room in their chase - the importance of which varies depending on what Warrior is asked - for an NBA-record 73-win season.

By their own admission however, the team was "in a fog" and distracted for a period. Head coach Steve Kerr preferred to put it another way, referring specifically to the overtime home loss to the Timberwolves.

"We were kind of fat, drunk, and stupid the other night," Kerr told reporters before Thursday's 112-101 win over the San Antonio Spurs, paraphrasing a line in the 1978 movie "Animal House."

The Warriors came one turnover short of tying their season-high in the game and recurring defensive lapses allowed three Wolves to score over 20 points.

Thursday's bounce-back win over a fully-dressed Spurs squad appeared to return the Warriors' groove, but questions still linger about how important chasing 73 is versus the real need for rest ahead of the postseason grind. Golden State must win its last three games to set the record, starting Saturday in Memphis against the Grizzlies, with the Spurs waiting again Sunday.

Kerr said the approach would be discussed, with its effects in place for Saturday's game.
