One of the biggest fights in women's MMA history has been postponed.

UFC women's bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison has withdrawn from her title defense against Amanda Nunes at UFC 324 due to a neck injury, a source told Bill Burt of The Eagle-Tribune.

The event takes place Jan. 24 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will mark the promotion's debut on Paramount Plus. Harrison-Nunes was the co-main event.

Harrison, who trains out of American Top Team in Florida, reportedly underwent surgery Tuesday in New York to repair herniated discs in her neck.

The UFC is expected to rebook the fight, but no timeline has been set, according to MMA Fighting's Damon Martin.

Harrison, 35, was slated to defend the 135-pound title for the first time since dethroning Julianna Pena with a second-round submission at UFC 316 in June. The two-time PFL champion signed with the UFC in 2024 and has since won three fights in a row.

Nunes, a former UFC two-division champion and the greatest women's fighter of all time, was slated to come out of retirement after stepping away from the sport in 2023.

An interim lightweight title bout between Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett will headline UFC 324.
