Jake Paul won't be fighting Tommy Fury on Dec. 18 because the latter is dealing with a medical condition, Paul announced Monday. The YouTube star will instead have a rematch with former UFC champion Tyron Woodley, who's stepping in.
"I am absolutely heartbroken that I have been forced to withdraw from my fight with Jake Paul due to a bacterial chest infection and broken rib," Fury, the half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, said in a statement obtained by MMA insider Ariel Helwani.
The 22-year-old added: "I can't express how disappointed I am, and I really do hope we can get this fight rescheduled in the new year. I want this fight to still happen more than anything."
Paul, who's 4-0 to start his boxing career, earned a split-decision win over Woodley in August. The 39-year-old Woodley got an "I love Jake Paul" tattoo after losing a bet related to their bout.
The 24-year-old Paul also holds knockout victories over former UFC fighter Ben Askren and ex-NBA guard Nate Robinson.
