Bellator vet Katy Collins dies at 32 following brain aneurysm
Former Bellator fighter Katy Collins died on Sept. 25 after a suffering a brain aneurysm on Sept. 20. The mother of two was just 32 years old.
Collins (7-5) fought three times for the Bellator MMA promotion, including against former flyweight title challenger Emily Ducote. "Red Dragon" last competed at LFA 42 against Contender Series veteran Jaimee Nievera in June 2018.
Her coach, JT Tilly, wrote a heartfelt post on Facebook in memory of the fighter who was based in Branson, Missouri.
"The fight is over. You never stopped fighting and we never gave up on you. Just wasn’t in the cards," Tilley wrote on Facebook. "I've always been so proud of you Kate. We did it. I was honored to be able to live your dream with you. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I will miss you more than the world will ever know."
Friends have set up a GoFundMe page to help Collins' family with medical and memorial expenses.
