Watch: Departing Drogba thanks adoring Impact fans ahead of training
Didier Drogba's farewell at the Montreal Impact may not be as drawn out as that of, say, New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter, but around 40 fans turned up to Saturday's training session to thank the striker for his service.
The 38-year-old Chelsea icon announced in the wake of the Impact's 3-2 victory over Toronto FC last Tuesday that, after joining the Quebecois outfit in 2015, he'll not be returning for the 2017 campaign. If Montreal cannot complete the task against rival Toronto in the second-leg of the Eastern Conference final on Wednesday, it's slated to be the last time the Ivorian turns out for the MLS franchise.
Drogba's record over the regular season since he switched to Canada stands at 21 goals and seven assists over 33 appearances.
