Vancouver's Manneh has successful foot surgery
Vancouver Whitecaps attacking midfielder Kekuta Manneh has been ruled out long term after undergoing surgery Friday for a fifth metatarsal fracture in his right foot.
Manneh, 21, was injured during a July 9 tilt with the Colorado Rapids, and will be sidelined until he returns to training in the fall, according to a club statement.
"Kekuta is an important member of the club and we're happy to hear the surgery went well," Caps coach Carl Robinson said Friday. "We anticipate he will make a complete recovery and will be back training with the group in the fall."
The versatile Gambian-born attacker has been a mainstay at BC Place since joining the Whitecaps in 2013. This season, he has five goals and two assists in 17 matches for the sixth-placed side. In 98 MLS appearances, Manneh has 22 tallies and 12 helpers.
