D.C. United attacker Chris Rolfe was suspended one match and fined an undisclosed amount by MLS on Tuesday for a tackle on Chicago Fire midfielder Nick LaBrocca during Saturday's 1-1 draw.
Rolfe, 33, was shown a yellow card for his studs-up tackle on LaBrocca, and has since been disciplined further by the league based on video of the incident.
"It is the committee's unanimous decision that Chris Rolfe's action was serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent," the league said in a statement.
The ten-time capped U.S. international will now miss Sunday's visit from New York City FC.
