Report: Timbers star Nagbe returns to training following sprained ankle
Portland Timbers midfielder Darlington Nagbe has returned to training after suffering a sprained ankle when the LA Galaxy's Nigel de Jong mistimed a studs-up tackle last week.
Nagbe was taken off following the tackle, which earned De Jong a three-game suspension and a fine.
The U.S. international returned to training soon after, though he isn't expected to take part in the Timbers' Saturday night fixture against the San Jose Earthquakes. Despite his return to the training field, head coach Caleb Porter still has to manage a number of sidelined players, including the likes of Alvas Powell and Liam Ridgewell.
"We're being tested right now with injuries," head coach Caleb Porter said, according to The Oregonian. "We're not going to use these things as excuses. We're going to go into the next game and the group that we put out there is going to put out a good performance."
