Report: Timbers' Nagbe suffers medial ankle sprain after De Jong tackle

Portland Timbers midfielder Darlington Nagbe has reportedly suffered a medial ankle sprain and contusion, MRI results revealed Tuesday, leaving the U.S. international sidelined. However, there is no fracture as initially feared.

Nagbe was the victim of a hard tackle delivered courtesy of LA Galaxy bruiser Nigel de Jong, who, despite brushing off the challenge with a "50-50" label after the fact, went in studs-up on the Timbers man, leading to the injury.

For his efforts, De Jong received only a yellow card in-game, though the MLS Disciplinary Committee could issue a statement this week addressing the incident retroactively.

As for Nagbe, he'll most certainly be unavailable for the Timbers' next home match, at Providence Park against FC Dallas on Wednesday evening.
