Real Salt Lake unveils plans for $50M training complex
Real Salt Lake owner Dell Loy Hansen is ready to flex his financial muscles as the club announced plans to build a $50-million training complex in Herriman, Utah.
With Mayor Carmen Freeman on hand, the ins and outs of the 42-acre project were displayed, which features eight fields, a STEM-specific charter school, and training facilities for Real Salt Lake, its USL affiliate side Real Monarchs, and its academy teams from Under-18 down.

"As an organization, we believe that building this gathering place from ground up, developing local talent, and training that talent to an elite level, will lead to stronger connection and ultimate success," Hansen said in a statement.
"Every city looks for an iconic landmark that will identify it regionally and internationally," Freeman said. "From a job creation standpoint, the stimulation of economic growth, with great benefits for our residents, to have such a unique opportunity of an incredibly inclusive nature is enormous."
Groundbreaking is expected to commence in April and the facility has a tentative opening date of August 2017.
