The Houston Astros reportedly agreed to a minor-league deal with left-hander Wandy Rodriguez on Thursday, according to Enrique Rojas of ESPN.
Rodriguez went 6-4 with a 4.90 ERA in 17 appearances (15 starts) with the Texas Rangers last season, posting a 1.56 WHIP and 72 strikeouts. After the 37-year-old was designated for assignment in August, he signed with the Kansas City Royals, but didn't pitch for them.
Rodriguez began his career in Houston, signing as a amateur free agent in 1999. He pitched for the Astros for eight seasons, going 80-84 with a 4.04 ERA.
The Astros' front office has been looking to add more depth to the rotation, which Rodriguez offers. He can also be used in relief in the bullpen.
