Arroyo garnering interest from at least 7 teams
Despite having not pitched in a major-league game in 18 months, free-agent right-hander Bronson Arroyo says he's healthy and garnering plenty of interest.
The 38-year-old is coming off Tommy John surgery, and told Jayson Stark of ESPN that the Washington Nationals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Baltimore Orioles, San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, and Philadelphia Phillies have all been in contact.
Arroyo was the model of health and consistency throughout his first 14 seasons in the majors. He averaged 211 innings from 2005-13, never landing on the disabled list until tearing the UCL in his right elbow in June 2014.
He said last month that things are back to normal and that he's looking forward to returning to the mound.
"My elbow finally started feeling 100 percent five days ago," Arroyo told reporters in mid-November. "There was a little spot in there. The scar tissue finally broke up."
