Alcides Escobar is bringing his success at the plate with him into the field.

The Kansas City Royals' slick-fielding shortstop flashed the leather during the second inning of Game 2 when he dove to his glove side to rob Toronto catcher Russell Martin of a base hit up the middle. Escobar completed the inning-ending play by tossing it to Ben Zobrist, doubling off Edwin Encarnacion at second.

Martin's line drive traveled at a speed of 111 mph, his hardest-hit ball of the season, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.

The big play negated back-to-back singles from the Blue Jays to lead off the second, and kept the game scoreless. Toronto plated one in the third following consecutive doubles by Kevin Pillar and Ryan Goins for an early 1-0 lead.

Escobar entered Saturday hitting .360/.407/.560 with five extra-base hits in seven games this postseason.
