Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki left the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader against the New York Yankees after colliding with center fielder Kevin Pillar.
Tulowitzki was backpedaling to catch a Didi Gregorius pop fly in short center field when Pillar ran into his back.
The 30-year-old was replaced by Cliff Pennington to begin the third inning after walking off the field gingerly with trainers.
Tulowitzki had X-rays on his ribs and chest which came back negative and he will undergo an MRI, with the results expected on Sunday. He will not play in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.
