Sanchez appealed the suspension Tuesday, but with manager John Gibbons saying the reliever is unavailable for the next two games, the club felt it only made sense to drop the appeal.

"He's been working pretty hard lately," Gibbons told reporters. "He could probably use a couple days. It might be perfect right now, I don't know."

The youngster will begin serving the suspension Wednesday. The decision will make Sanchez eligible to pitch in the final two games (Aug. 8 and 9) of the Blue Jays' next series against the New York Yankees.
