Felix Hernandez helped write himself into the Seattle Mariners' record books Wednesday when he induced a fifth inning ground out from Texas Rangers left fielder Jake Smolinski.
With the out, the 29-year-old surpassed Jamie Moyer as the franchise leader in innings pitched with 2,093 1/3.
Pitcher | W-L | G | ERA | SO |
---|---|---|---|---|
Hernandez | 128-92 | 308 | 3.06 | 1983 |
Moyer | 145-87 | 324 | 3.97 | 1239 |
Signed as an amateur free agent by the Mariners in 2002, Hernandez has made five All-Star appearances across 10 seasons and was named the AL Cy Young winner in 2010.
Hernandez was credited the win in Wednesday's 5-2 victory and now sits one behind Randy Johnson for second and 17 behind Moyer for the all-time franchise lead. Hernandez also sits second all-time in franchise strikeouts, 175 behind Johnson.
