The Kansas City Royals made it official Friday: Alex Rios is now a member of the American League champions.
Rios and the Royals agreed to a one-year contract with a mutual option for 2016, the team announced. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but multiple reports confirmed Rios will earn a salary of $11 million in 2015.
It marks the fourth team Rios has played for during his 11-year career, most recently spending the last two seasons with the Texas Rangers. Rios is one of three active players with at least 300 doubles, 50 triples and 150 career home runs.
