Peavy's teammate Koji Uehara uses a splitter as effectively as anyone in baseball, which may have contributed to Peavy's decision to incorporate it into the mix. He made his spring debut Thursday, giving up one run on two hits and two walks in three innings while striking out two against the Twins. It will be interesting to see how effective Peavy can be with the splitter, and it's definitely something to keep an eye on.
