Former Yankees great Don Mattingly, who appeared on just 8.2 percent of the Hall-of-Fame ballots submitted by the voting members of the BBWAA this year, told MLB Network on Thursday he has no regrets about ending his career at age 34.

Mattingly, who signed a three-year extension with the Dodgers this week that will keep him as Los Angeles' manager through 2016, did admit that he could've joined baseball's elite had he continued playing.

The 52-year-old skipper spent his entire 14-year playing career with the Yankees, compiling a .307/.358/.471 line with 222 home runs.  Mattingly's illustrious career also yielded nine Gold Gloves, six All-Star appearances, and the 1985 American League MVP award.
