Astros' Trammell: Yankees having bat confiscated 'ridiculous'
Houston Astros outfielder Taylor Trammell was unhappy with the New York Yankees after they requested his bat be confiscated during Thursday's game.
The Yankees asked umpires to take a look at Trammell's bat after he hit a double in the ninth inning.

"It's actually ridiculous. I have no idea what really happened," Trammell said, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart.
Trammell was told the Yankees believed his bat, which showed discoloration on its side, had been shaved down.
"To be honest, I have no idea how you shave down a bat. I don't know what it is. I feel kind of defensive right now, moreso a test of my character of like I'm going to willingly do that," Trammell told McTaggart.
"Just kind of lost on that thing, and if anybody knows me knows I'm never going to cheat any turns or anything like that. I have no idea. That's baffling to me that it was even checked. They didn't like it. Sorry. I used it the first at-bat, and it wasn't a problem. I struck out, and it wasn't a problem then."
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said after the game they decided to ask umpires to check Trammell's bat after noticing the discoloration earlier in the series, according to YES Network.
He went on to say, "the league thought it may be illegal, too," while emphasizing "he didn't want to accuse Taylor" of doing anything illegal.
Trammell appeared in five games with the Yankees in 2024 before he was purchased by the Astros from them last November.
The Yankees won Thursday's game 8-4 to win the series.
