Orioles' Young loses perfect game in 8th inning vs. Astros
Baltimore Orioles rookie right-hander Brandon Young lost his perfect game with two outs in the eighth inning of Friday's 7-0 win after an infield single by Houston Astros second baseman Ramón Urías.
Young ended up allowing just that one hit by Urías with zero walks and six strikeouts over eight frames to collect the first win of his MLB career. The 26-year-old Texas native entered the outing 0-6 with a 6.70 ERA in 10 starts.

"Growing up here, coming to games here, having family and friends here - it's hard to put into words, honestly," Young said postgame, according to Jake Rill of MLB.com.
Young and Urías were teammates earlier in the season before the latter was dealt to Houston at the trade deadline.
"He had a crazy performance today," Urías added. "He was great on the mound. He was mixing really well. That's the best that I've seen him."
Astros manager Joe Espada said Urías ran the pregame meeting for hitters before facing Young to "give us some of their style and strategy," according to Andy Kostka of the Baltimore Banner.
Only 24 perfect games have been thrown in MLB history. Domingo Germán was the last pitcher to accomplish the feat in June 2023 while playing for the New York Yankees.
