The Miami Marlins designated Ronny Simon for assignment three days after the infielder's disastrous game against the San Diego Padres, the team announced.

Simon committed three errors - with a fourth one later being changed to a hit - during the Marlins' 8-6 loss to the San Diego Padres.

The 25-year-old was visibly upset with himself after he was removed from the game in the fifth inning. The infielder hasn't appeared in a contest since.

Simon said he heard from a number of players, including Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Luis Arraez of the Padres, who offered support, according to 97.3 The Fan's Sammy Levitt. The young Dominican added that he "was going to try and improve every day to help make his team better" following the error-filled game.

Simon made four errors while posting a .604 OPS with seven strikeouts in 19 big-league games.

The Marlins also designated infielder Matt Mervis for assignment, optioned Graham Pauley to Triple-A, and reinstated outfielder Dane Myers from the injured list Friday.

Additionally, Miami selected the contracts of infielder Jack Winkler and outfielder Heriberto Hernandez.
