Yankees reinstate LeMahieu, place Cabrera on IL with fractured ankle
The New York Yankees reinstated infielder DJ LeMahieu from the 10-day injured list and placed infielder Oswaldo Cabrera on the IL with a fractured left ankle, the team announced Tuesday.
LeMahieu hasn't appeared in a major-league game this season while he recovered from a calf injury.
The 36-year-old performed well during his minor-league rehab assignment, slashing .444/.500/.593 with 12 hits in 30 plate appearances.
The two-time batting champ struggled in 2024, posting a .527 OPS (52 OPS+) in 67 games.
Cabrera was taken off the field in an ambulance during Monday's game against the Seattle Mariners after he suffered a gruesome injury attempting to score on an Aaron Judge sacrifice fly.
