Yankees' Loáisiga to miss at least 2 months with flexor strain
The New York Yankees placed right-hander Jonathan Loáisiga on the 60-day injured list with a right flexor strain, the team announced Friday.
The move is retroactive to April 4, meaning the 29-year-old isn't eligible to return until June 4 at the earliest.
Loáisiga hasn't allowed an earned run over three appearances this season, although he did give up seven hits in four innings.
The hard-throwing reliever missed all but 17 games last season due to right elbow issues.
Loásiga posted a 4.13 ERA and 3.57 FIP during his last healthy campaign in 2022. The Nicaraguan's best year came in 2021 when he authored a 2.17 ERA and 2.58 FIP in 70 2/3 innings.
The Yankees signed right-hander Dennis Santana to a major-league contract and selected him to the active roster to fill Loáisiga's roster spot.
