Report: Dodgers agree to 1-year, $6.5M deal with David Peralta

The Los Angeles Dodgers have bolstered their outfield corps by agreeing to a one-year, $6.5-million contract with veteran David Peralta, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Peralta's deal is pending a physical and includes incentives that could raise its total value to $8 million, reports Passan.

The 35-year-old adds another left-handed bat to the Dodgers' left-field mix, where he could potentially form one half of a platoon alongside Chris Taylor or Trayce Thompson. His competition in spring training will also include rookie James Outman and veteran non-roster invitee Jason Heyward.

Peralta hit a combined .251/.316/.415 with 12 home runs and 59 RBIs across 134 games split between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Tampa Bay Rays last season. He saw his offense dip dramatically after joining Tampa Bay just before the trade deadline, posting a .652 OPS in 47 games with the Rays compared to a .777 mark with Arizona. His minus-five defensive runs saved in left field was also his worst mark since 2015.

Peralta sports a career .281/.339/.457 slash line with 1,001 hits, 110 homers, and 486 RBIs over parts of nine big-league seasons. He won a Gold Glove in left field in 2019 and a Silver Slugger in 2018 when he hit a career-high 30 home runs.
