The San Francisco Giants signed right-hander Trevor Rosenthal to a one-year deal on Thursday, the team announced.

Rosenthal signed for $4.5 million, which includes an additional $1 million in performance bonuses, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's John Shea.

The Giants placed Rosenthal on the injured list with a hamstring strain, which he's rehabbing in Arizona, according to NBC Sports' Alex Pavlovic. The 32-year-old is expected to pitch during the final two months of the campaign.

Rosenthal hasn't pitched since 2020 after missing all of last season following surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome. He signed a one-year, $11-million deal with the Oakland Athletics last year but never played in a game for them.

The former closer appeared in 23 contests for the Kansas City Royals and the San Diego Padres in 2020, authoring a 1.90 ERA and 14.5 K/9 along with 11 saves in 23 2/3 innings.
