Report: Juan Soto's younger brother plans to join Nationals in 2023
Elian Soto, the brother of MLB superstar Juan Soto, is planning to sign with the Washington Nationals organization, sources told Britt Ghiroli and Maria Torres of The Athletic.
Juan, who made his Nationals debut in 2018, played a role in directing Elian to the team, according to Ghiroli and Torres.
Elian, 15, reportedly won't join Washington until January 2023. He's an international player and must be at least 16 years old before he can sign with a major-league team.
The younger Soto's plans could also be altered if MLB introduces an international draft in its next collective bargaining agreement.
An outfielder/third baseman who hits left-handed, Elian appears to have changed his mind about which organization he wants to join. He posted an Instagram video Dec. 31 in which he wore New York Mets gear:
