Report: Epstein not joining Mets' front office
The New York Mets won't add Theo Epstein to their front office, a source told SNY's Andy Martino.
"(Mets owner) Steve (Cohen) and Theo spoke," the source told Martino. "They had a good conversation and both agreed that this was not the right opportunity."
Epstein is a former Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox executive whose teams have won three World Series with him in charge. He was one of the first candidates being considered to run baseball operations for the Mets.
Epstein was the logical first place for the #Mets to go, not only because of his credentials, but because he was not affiliated with a team and no permission was needed to speak to him. His removal, though, takes out a potential heavyweight for the bb pres job.

Other potential candidates to run the Mets' baseball operations under team president Sandy Alderson include Oakland Athletics executive vice president of baseball operations Billy Beane, Milwaukee Brewers president of baseball operations David Stearns, and Los Angeles Dodgers executive Josh Byrnes, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.
The Mets are without a general manager after placing executive Zack Scott on administrative leave in September following his arrest for driving while intoxicated.
