Blue Jays' Springer day-to-day after suffering ankle injury
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer left Saturday's game against the Seattle Mariners in the seventh inning after suffering a mild left ankle sprain, according to Sportsnet's Hazel Mae.
X-rays on the outfielder's ankle came back negative, Mae adds.
Springer came down awkwardly after making a leaping attempt at the wall to catch a fly ball that Ty France hit. He appeared to be in pain but left the field under his own power, albeit with a significant limp. Springer required assistance getting down the steps in the Blue Jays' dugout.
"That was a scary moment for the whole team," Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said, according to Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling. "But the good news is that he's going to be all right."
The Mariners rallied after the play to score four runs in the frame en route to a 9-3 win.
