The Texas Rangers and outfielder Joey Gallo are discussing a contract extension, sources told Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.
The talks come while the Rangers field trade offers for Gallo, according to Grant.
Rangers president of baseball operations Jon Daniels didn't publicly comment on the contract discussions but said the two-time All-Star's future with the team is "a big decision for us."
The Toronto Blue Jays scouted Texas last week, according to Grant. The San Diego Padres and New York Yankees are also reportedly interested in the slugger.
Gallo is arbitration-eligible through the 2022 campaign. The 27-year-old owns an .877 OPS with 24 home runs and 52 RBIs in 92 games this season. He won his first career Gold Glove in 2020.
