San Diego Padres right-hander Dinelson Lamet lasted just two innings in his start against the Milwaukee Brewers due to right forearm tightness, the team announced.

Lamet threw 29 pitches, allowing one hit while striking out four and walking one. His final pitch was an 87-mph slider; one pitch earlier, he threw a 95-mph fastball.

This was Lamet's first start of the season. His breakout 2020 campaign ended early due to a bicep injury.

Manager Jayce Tingler said postgame that Lamet will undergo an MRI, according to Annie Heilbrunn of the San Diego Union-Tribune. However, he was optimistic that the tightness might have been from adrenaline, as he didn't feel any symptoms during his warmup, according to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez.

"It gives him a chance to maybe continue to pitch and go forward, but we’ll just have to wait and see," Tingler added, Gonzalez reports.

The 28-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery in 2018 and received a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection in his elbow last fall.
