The Colorado Rockies signed veteran first baseman C.J. Cron to a minor-league contract on Monday, the team announced.
Cron appeared in 13 games for the Detroit Tigers last season, hitting .190/.346/.548 with four home runs and eight RBIs in 13 games.
The 31-year-old underwent season-ending surgery in August after dislocating his left kneecap.
He should compete for playing time at first base with Josh Fuentes, Ian Desmond, and the recently signed Greg Bird.
Cron has hit 118 homers throughout his career, including 30 with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2018. This will be his fourth team in as many years after spending 2014 to 2017 with the Los Angeles Angels.
