Report: Yankees sign Justin Wilson
Justin Wilson is heading back across the Triborough Bridge.
The left-hander has agreed to a contract with the New York Yankees, WFAN's Sweeny Murti reports.
Full terms of Wilson's deal - which had been moving toward completion over the weekend - are not yet known. It's likely to be a one-year contract for around $4 million, according to Pete Caldera of NorthJersey.com and SNY's Andy Martino.
Completion of the agreement is pending a physical, according to Robert Murray of FanSided.
Wilson, 33, spent the past two seasons with the New York Mets, authoring a 2.91 ERA and 3.62 FIP with 67 strikeouts in 58 2/3 innings. The Mets were trying to re-sign Wilson and had been in recent contact with his representatives, Ken Davidoff of the New York Post reported Sunday. However, they were out of the running by Monday afternoon, according to the Post's Mike Puma.
This will be the veteran reliever's second stint in the Bronx after pitching for the Yankees in 2015. He should help stabilize the middle innings for their bullpen while providing a bridge to Zack Britton and Aroldis Chapman.
Wilson has played for five teams over his nine-year career, recording a 3.27 ERA with 18 saves in 429 1/3 innings.
