Report: Pedroia not planning comeback
Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia may have played his last game in the majors.
Pedroia, the 2008 AL MVP, isn't planning a comeback, and a resolution to his situation with the Red Sox could come in January, according to Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe.
The 37-year-old played in just nine games over the last three seasons due to multiple injuries. He suffered a significant setback with his left knee in January 2020.
Pedroia is in the last campaign of an eight-year, $110-million contract he signed with the Red Sox in 2013.
He owns a career .299/.365/.439 slash line with 140 home runs and 725 RBIs over 14 years with the club. His list of accomplishments includes being named the 2007 AL Rookie of the Year, four All-Star nods, four Gold Gloves, and three World Series rings (2007, 2013, and 2018), all with Boston.
